How I Draw Digital Coloring Pages
A behind-the-scenes look at the process, by illustrator Willow Finch.
People often ask how our Cozy Collection pages come together, so here is a look at the full process from a blank page to a finished, printable coloring sheet.
1. Rough sketch
Every page starts as a loose pencil sketch, often based on a small, everyday moment: a warm drink, a quiet reading corner, a pet curled up by the window. I focus on composition first and worry about detail later.
2. Digital inking
Once the sketch feels right, I trace it digitally with clean, consistent linework. I aim for lines that are simple enough for beginners but detailed enough to stay interesting through a full coloring session.
3. Cleanup and shape-checking
Every shape needs to be a fully closed outline so it fills correctly in the online coloring tool. This step is mostly invisible to colorers, but it matters a lot for a smooth experience.
4. Export and testing
The final line art is exported at high resolution and test-printed on both Letter and A4 paper before it goes live, as part of our full Content Review Process.
