DIY Halloween Mask

DIY Halloween Mask featured image

Color, cut, and wear a friendly Halloween mask made from a printable page. Ideal for classroom parties, porch photos, and little trick-or-treaters who want handmade charm.

Time: 25–40 minutes  ·  Best for: kids with a little grown-up help, rainy afternoons, classroom parties

What you’ll need

  • Printed Halloween mask coloring page
  • Crayons, markers, or colored pencils
  • Scissors (kid-safe if needed)
  • Hole punch
  • Elastic string, yarn, or a craft stick for a handle
  • Optional: glitter glue, stickers, cardstock for backing

How to make it

Step 1: Color boldly

Fill in your mask with playful Halloween colors. Strong outlines and bright shapes read best in photos and dim porch light.

Step 2: Cut carefully

Cut around the outer mask shape. Cut out the eye holes slowly — a grown-up can help with the tricky middle bits.

Step 3: Reinforce if you like

Glue the colored mask onto cardstock or a cereal-box panel for sturdiness, then trim again along the edges.

Step 4: Add the strap or stick

Punch side holes and tie elastic for a wearable mask, or tape a craft stick to one side for an easy hold-up prop.

Cozy tips

  • Test eye hole placement against a face before the final cut.
  • Skip glitter near the eyes; use it on outer edges only.
  • Make a matching family set — cat, pumpkin, and friendly ghost.
