Color a Halloween scene, fold a simple pop-up mechanism, and send a handmade card that jumps with joy when it opens — no fancy tools required.

What you’ll need
- Printed pop-up card coloring pages (cover + inner scene)
- Crayons or markers
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- A blank folded card or sheet of cardstock
- Optional: washi tape, stickers for the message panel
How to make it
Step 1: Color cover and pop-up pieces
Color the card cover and the inner pop-up shapes — bats, pumpkins, or a friendly haunted house — leaving tabs uncolored if marked for glue.
Step 2: Cut and fold the mechanism
Cut out the pop-up pieces. Fold the base card in half, then cut two short parallel slits across the fold and push the resulting strip inward to create a pop-up shelf.
Step 3: Attach the scene
Glue your colored character or scene onto the pop-up shelf. Test-close the card gently so nothing catches on the edges.
Step 4: Add your message
Write a warm note inside — “Happy Halloween!” or “You make every day brighter.” Decorate the cover last so glue smudges stay hidden.
Cozy tips
- Keep pop-up pieces shorter than the card height so the card closes flat.
- Less glue is better — dab, press, wait.
- Make a practice fold on scrap paper before cutting your colored piece.
